Ondergrond
Ondergrond is a self-organized collective exhibition developed in 2020, taking the basement of an old school building as both the place of inspiration and the place to exhibit in. The basement is full of shutters, corners, and spaces. The space had been flooded once, which left behind traces of mould and discoloration on the walls. The following works are derived and built upon patterns that were given rise through chemical reactions, the effect of water, and mould that was able to flourish in a deserted, flooded basement without human influences. The works consist of microscopic photographs and mixed medium sculptures combining the natural growth of funghi with plastics.
Exhibited at Expositie Ondergrond, 10-11 July 2021, Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
